I have a lot of trouble with powdery mildew in the middle to late summer in my flower garden. Am I correct to understand that spraying 508 near the time before the full moon and before the moon is in Perigee are good times to spray?
Hi Carol, Sorry for the delayed reply. I was travelling. You could certainly do a soil soak of bd 508 to combat powdery mildew in middle to late summer. Spraying BD #508 balances watery influences by introducing a drying, balancing effect. You can add ½ gallon of the fermented tea to 4½ gallons of clean water, stir for twenty minutes in the usual biodynamic way of creating alternating deep vortices. This amount will treat 1½ acres. The ratio for diluting is one part fermented tea to nine parts water. The fermented BD #508 most likely should be applied as a soil spray (or in the atmosphere), whereas as the fresh tea version may be better suited for foliar application, like in your case with mildew. Treat the plant leaves themselves at first sign of mildew. For maximum effect, spray 508 a few days before a NEW MOON because that is when plants contract inwardly anyway, naturally shielding themselves against pest and diseases.
