Spring 2023 Spring Biodynamic Gathering
hands-on practical experience making 501, 502, 503, and 506
“Food grown on denatured soil cannot support any population whether man, beast or bird, in proper health.” - C. Alma Baker, The Labouring Earth
It is the aim of biodynamics to restore vitality to the soil, to replenish the working processes of nature back to any soil that has been robbed of its living potential. On behalf of the Josephine Porter Institute, we would like to extend an invitation to you to our upcoming workshop.
Yesterday we processed a cow here on the farm with the Moon in Scorpio in preparation for Hugo Erbe’s Bovine Rumen Preparation. We gathered enough fresh sheath material to make preparations for this coming weekend’s workshop.
The first evening of our workshop will center around food, a bonfire, drum circle, and a discussion of cosmic considerations. The next day will be all day learning about, but more importantly, making these special preparations. The third day will be a continuation of biodynamic practical education focusing on horn silica and a breakfast sendoff.

Join us in Floyd, Virginia from Friday May 12 to Sunday May 14 for our annual spring biodynamic workshop where you will be making many of the foundational biodynamics preparations with us:
These preparations primarily belong to the set of so-called compost preparations which collectively help guide the formation of improved compost by bringing to manure what is rarely added deliberately: that is, carefully composted medicinal herbs.

Our workshop is operating at cost to supply attendees with nourishing food from organic and biodynamic farms while informing their minds and transforming their imaginations.
While the biodynamic preparations certainly perform significant work out in the field, another profound change occurs in the practice of assembling the preparations: you yourself are changed.
If you’re able to attend, please do! And thank you all for helping renature the denatured earth!
