LO! the light (which from the spirit’s vales
weaves fruitful patterns in the cosmic skies)
the handiwork of e’er creating gods unveils:
there may the soul her likeness recognise
and let them bear her out upon a starry sea
and from selfhood’s anguished clutches set her free.
From Rudolf Steiner’s The Calendar of the Soul, fifth week [May 5 - May 11], trans. Max Leyf
Greetings fellow farmers, gardeners, land stewards, and cosmic enthusiasts!
As we approach the halfway point between the March equinox and the June solstice, the following astrological observations offer suggestions that may be helpful for planning activities with the land. While these suggestions can serve as general guidance, be sure to consider your own climate and weather patterns first and foremost and adapt according to local conditions.
Today is May 3, and it’s 11 o’clock in the morning.
According to the sidereal zodiac, the Sun is currently in Aries. It will enter Taurus on May 15 and remain there until June 20.
The Moon entered Virgo on May 1 and will be there until May 5. Plant and tend root crops during this time.
Because the Moon is descending until May 8, this window is generally a better time for transplanting in the northern hemisphere. If you are in the southern hemisphere where the Moon is ascending, it is a better time for sowing and harvesting.
The days leading up to the Full Moon on May 5 offer a great opportunity to start seeds.
However, on May 5, we will experience a Lunar Eclipse. During the eclipse, from around 3 p.m. on May 4 until 5 p.m. on May 5, it is recommended to refrain from working the land.
On May 9 and May 10, the Moon will experience a Fire Trine, offering a window that could be particularly helpful for planting and tending fruit crops.
The Moon will then Perigee on May 11. During this time, from around 2 p.m. on May 10 until 1 p.m. on May 11, it is again recommended to refrain from working the land.
Thank you for your care and effort as we work together to heal the Earth in conscious cooperation with the cosmos.
